This workshop is an introduction into Indian rhythm used in playing tabla and dhol. During this session you will learn how to count beats and use maths to make music. All you’ll need are your hands to clap along and follow the combinations given by Vinod. You’ll also take away a handout to keep practising at home.

Led by Vinod Kerai

Vinod Kerai is a percussionist with over 20 years of experience. He started out as a young child playing dholak in local temples and soon moved to Tabla, Dhol and Latin percussion. His teachers have included Ustad Yousuf Ali Khan, Pandit Shankar Ghosh & Pandit Nayan Ghosh. He has performed with a wide variety of artists ranging from Hindustani Classical, to Fusion to Pop including Jah Wobble, the Grand Union Orchestra, Botown, Clem Alford, Imran Khan and Jay Sean. He is also a regular on BBC Asian Network and BBC Live sessions and has performed at prestigious venues around the world including the Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scotts and La Salle des Etoiles (Monte Carlo).

Sing-a-long with Rajvi to your favourite Disney songs. This interactive workshop asks children to guess the song and follow the actions. We encourage children to come dressed up and with their big singing voices at the ready!

Led by Rajvi Raja

Rajvi trained in music at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for 6 years where she earned an honours with distinction for her diploma in Hindustani Classical Vocal.
