Playwriting and Songwriting workshops for children in Year 7 - Year 11.

An introduction into the world of dramatic writing. All you need is pen, paper and an imagination. In this workshop you’ll create a story for the stage in the form of a monologue or duologue and have everything you need to start writing a play of your own!

Led by Sumerah Srivastav-  a local playwright and screenwriter. Her theatre credits include two plays written for teenage audiences called Jigsaw (Migration Museum) and Veiled & Vinegar (Redbridge Drama Centre) as well as Sketching (Wiltons) and #846Live (Stratford East). For telly she has written episodes for Eastenders, Casualty and upcoming Netflix show Lupin.


An introduction into writing song lyrics. Learn the fundamentals of writing a song. All you need is pen, paper and interest in rhyming words. In this workshop you’ll create the verse and/or chorus of an original song that you’ll be able to finish at home.

Led by Ajay Srivastav - a singer, songwriter and composer. His work includes recording sessions with Jamiroquai and Gregory Isaacs; to short films and documentaries (Soulmates, Flying Sikhs, Wake Up Bollywood), Bollywood films (Karzz, Golmaal Returns, Bhool Bhulaiya), and Theatre (Cymbeline, The Perfect Ganesh).
