Women Of Tagore

Komola Collective present

Women of Tagore

Friday 8th March & Saturday 9th March 8 pm

To celebrate International Women's Day, Komola Collective present Women of Tagore, spotlighting Rabindranath Tagore‘s iconic female characters accompanied by live music. Adapted by Leesa Gazi directed by Filiz Ozcan and supported by Redbridge Drama Centre.

“For we women are not only the deities of the household fire but the flame of the soul itself.”

KC brings you three of Rabindranath Tagore’s best known female characters: Debjani, Charulata, and Nandini. Nobel Laureate Tagore writes in a way that is both epic and relatable. From the inhabitants of the Underworld to those of a dystopian future, these women experience love and loss and have to make sacrifices. Along the way, they will make you question what it means to be women in a man's world.

Join us, and let's raise a glass to these literary characters who have challenged us and captured our imaginations and our stages for more than 100 years.
